Barclay Downs Drive (3700 Block)

Starting at 9:00am on 8/27/10 utilities crews will be closing down the 3300 block down to the 3800 block of Barclay Downs Drive. This is located between Ferncliff Road and Inverness Road. This closure is necessary so can safely make repairs on a water leak. The road will be closed for about 6 hours.

The detour in place will be: coming from Runnymede Ln and Barclay Downs- turn left on Ferncliff Rd, then turn right onto Colony Rd, then right on Roxborough Rd, and then a right on Morrison Blvd, and that will bring you back Barclay Downs Dr.

Coming from Fairview/South Park: Come down Barclay Downs Dr, then turn left on Inverness Rd, then turn left onto on Manning Dr, then right on Park Rd, then a right on Selwyn Rd, and then a right onto Runnymede Ln.

CATS buses will be affected. We are sorry for any inconveniences this may cause.

Central Avenue (August 7-9)

Crews will repair a sewer pipe under 2900 Central Avenue (near Arnold Drive). Work will begin around 7:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7 and be complete before Monday morning rush hour at 6:00 a.m.

Traffic shifts will occur in both directions between Masonic Drive and Arnold Drive throughout the weekend. One lane will be open in each direction but expect some delays driving through the repair area.

Cherokee Road

Cherokee Road between Biltmore Drive and Lockley Drive will close on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 9 a.m. and will re-open on August 16, 2010 at 5 p.m. This closure is necessary to replace a sewer pipe that is deep under the street. Lockley Drive, Colville Road and Biltmore Drive should be utilized as the detour.

All local access will be maintained.

Colony Road UPDATED

Crews are installing a large wastewater pipe under Colony Road at Briar Creek (near Myers Park High School entrance) between April 2 - 11.

Pipe installation will be completed during CMS spring break. Homes have access but drivers will not be able to get across Briar Creek. Drivers are encouraged to use Runnymede Lane as a detour.

Commonwealth Avenue

Commonwealth Avenue between Bascom Street and Lorna Street will close on Monday, April 26 at 9 a.m. and will re-open on Friday, April 30 at 5 p.m. This closure is necessary for the installation of a water tap project. Detour will be posted via Westover Street, McClintock Road and Morningside Drive.

All local access will be maintained.

Concord Road at Lorimer Road (Davidson) - Thursday Night through Saturday

Crews are installing a 16-inch water pipe under the intersection of Concord Road at Lorimer Road in Davidson starting Thursday night at 6:00 p.m. Concord Road will be closed at Lorimer Road and Lorimer will be closed between Concord Road and Chairman Blake Lane.

The street will be open between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. Friday morning and 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Friday night. Crews hope to have the pipe in service and road repaved by Saturday night.

Traffic will be detoured from Concord Road to College Drive to Chairman Blake Lane, to Main Street and vice versa. Parking will be restricted on Chairman Blake Lane starting on Thursday until the detour is no longer in effect.

Graham Street at West Trade Street (Saturday, May 15)

On Saturday May 15, around 9:00 am crews will be closing a portion of the intersection of West Trade Street and North Graham Street. This closure is necessary so we can make repair on the 12-inch water main.

Two inbound lanes on North Graham Street will be closed. The right inbound curb lane on West Trade Street and the left turning lane on the outbound side of Graham Street onto Trade Street will be closed. Detour signs will be in place.

Hickory Ridge Road - Cabarrus County (April 5)

The N.C. Department of Transportation will temporarily close a section of Hickory Ridge Road (State Road 1138) between Rocky River Road (S.R. 2828) and Rocky River Church Road (S.R. 2810) south of Harrisburg Monday, April 5, at 7 a.m., weather permitting.

The road closure is necessary for wastewater pipe installation work. The road is expected to reopen on Friday, April 9.

Motorists traveling north on Hickory Ridge Road should use the following signed detour:

* Hickory Ridge Road to Lower Rocky River Road to Peach Orchard Road to Robinson Church Road to Rocky River Road back to Hickory Ridge Road.

Crews will replace a sewer pipe under Kenilworth Avenue between East Boulevard and Ideal Way. Kenilworth Avenue is a one-way street and closed between East Boulevard and Ideal Way.

Work will begin at 8:00 a.m. on July 17 and continue until 8:00 p.m. Drivers are encouraged to use South Boulevard to Scaleybark Road to Park Road as an alternate route.

Remount Road - NOW OPEN as of 2:15 p.m. August 6

- NOW OPEN as of 2:15 p.m. August 6 -Southbound Remount Road from Watson Drive to West Boulevard will be reduced to one lane.

Beginning at 9:00 a.m. August 5, 2010 through August 6, 2010, both southbound lanes of Remount Road from Watson Drive to West Boulevard will be closed. All traffic will use the left turn lane to travel southbound through the intersection. Appropriate adjustments to the traffic signal at Remount Road and West Boulevard will be made to address both through and left turn traffic from this lane.

Heavy congestion of southbound Remount Road is anticipated during peak traffic periods. Motorists are advised to avoid southbound Remount and use I-77 southbound to West Boulevard as an alternate. These lane closures are necessary for emergency repair work to a water main in Remount Road. Local access to homes and businesses will be maintained.

Crews will be repairing a service line at 7821 Sardis Road on Sunday between 6:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

No residential customers will be without water. One business, at this address, will be without water and was contacted earlier. No hydrants will be affected.

Traffic will be reduced from 4 to 2 lanes at this point. The north bound traffic will be shifted to the inside south bound lane.

Crews are installing a service pipe in the 2700 block of South Boulevard near Poindexter Road.

The southbound curb lane may be closed intermittently during 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. August 31 to September 3.

On September 7, Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. (or Wednesday night), both southbound lanes will be closed at Poindexter Road. One lane will be open in each direction but expect delays. The road will be patched the following morning.
